Fuel

Being on track is thirsty work, for you and the bike.

Fuel yourself with plenty of water and don’t go for three courses at lunch!

When it comes to the bike, make sure you take enough fuel for the whole day. Most tracks have fuel stations onsite that are open at specific times, but if there out of action running out of fuel won’t be fun.

When I first started I was filling the tank after every two session so I didn’t get the dreaded fuel light half way through the session.

I then had a nose around the paddock and noticed the faster folk were adding just the right amount of fuel in for the session to keep the bike weight down.

Invest in a proper fuel jug and measure out what you need. Seeing people try to top tanks up with a 20l can and a red hot engine underneath is a recipe for disaster!
