IT’S NOT A RACE!

Some  people  forget  this.  There's  no  trophies  at  the  end  of  the  day,  and  lets  be  honest,  we  aren’t  going  for  the  track  record  are  we.

99%  of  people  treat  it  as  a  track  day,  but  you’ll  ALWAYS  get  someone  diving  up  the  inside  of  you  just  before  the  apex.  When  it  happens,  and  it  will,  stay  calm.  Carry  on  looking  in  the  direction  you’re  going  and  let  them  go.

Its  advisable  to  not  run  mirrors  on  track.  Take  them  off,  or  tuck  them  in.  You  only  need  to  look  forward  and  forget  the  rules  of  the  road,  Also,  tape  your  speedo  up,  you  don’t  need  to  know  what  speed  you’re  doing .  If  you’re  in  front,  you  have  the  line.  Overtaking  should  be  done  without  surprising the  ride  in front,  and  with  plenty  of  space.

During  one  of  my  afternoon  sessions  at  Donington  last  time  out  I  was  hard  on  the  anchors  for  Foggy’s  and  Captain  track  day  came  screaming  past  me  on  a  top  spec  Aprilia.  Two  thoughts  entered  my  head.  1.  Either  I ‘ve  braked  way  too  early,  or  2.   He  ain’t  stopping  that!  As  I  exited  Foggy’s  with  a  clear  track  in  front  of  me  I  knew  I’d  braked  bang  on  my  marker!

Make  friends  in  the  paddock,  don’t  be  the  guy  that's  knocked  someone  off....

Remember, it's not a race!
