"Our organisation is growing with 4 volunteer staff, 21 Ambassadors and 6 online moderators. We are at early days and are always looking for support as we have high ambitions of how we want the biking community to engage with their long term wellbeing."
"The Mental Health Motorbike exists to create meaningful opportunities so that together we grow the wellbeing of the motorbike community, ultimate we want to cut the number of suicides in the UK."
"We have a number of objectives, the first is to get qualified mental health first aiders in a bike shop or club in every town and city across the UK. This will create a strong backbone to our network. The mental health first aid course is a recognised and approved scheme (see https://mhfaengland.org). We have member of our team who is an official accredited trainer able to deliver these courses."
Mental Health Motorbike Ride to Recruit - The Mental Health Motorbike Ride to Recruit baton relay event will take place in May 2022. Our aim is to create a network of biker friendly mental health first aiders by visiting towns and cities across the UK and inviting clubs and bike shops to sponsor a course to train one of their staff members in mental health first aid. Information about the course can be found here - www.mhmotorbike.com/MHFA
A Mental Health First Aider in Every UK City - Mental Health Motorbike will create a network of mental health first aiders who are sensitive to the needs of bikers. Every first aider we train will go on an interactive map and will be accessible by other bikers who need support and help.
MHM aim to raise awareness of mental health generally and reduce the number of suicides within the biker community and provide some support for those bikers in need.
Double Apex will be supporting MHM however possible and are Mental Health First Aid Trained 'ambassadors'!
The route has been drafted to pass through most regions of the UK picking up popular motorcycle Cafes, clubs and points of interest. With the initial support of Bennetts Insurance we want to find more strategic sponsors who would like to get involved in the project and feature on the route.
The Baton - Supported by two out-riders and an office; baton bike individuals will have the opportunity to carry a GPS tracked baton to the end destination where we will meet with journalists and other media to talk about our aim and to create awareness to mental health issues. Bikers can sign up to escort the baton bike throughout different stages/legs of the journey. A support team will be registering organisations, individuals, clubs and shops to sign up for a MHFA course.
Get Involved - If you wish to get involved as a rider on a regional stage of the relay or register interest in sponsoring a first-aid training course in your Cafe, club, shop or organisation please click here.
